After a riveting first place finish at the Myrtle Beach Shootout during spring break, the Denison Big Red men’s golf team placed second at Strimer Memorial Invitational.
Leading up to the invitational, Jimmy Slovitt ‘15 had been named North Coast Athletic Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week following his impressive performance in Myrtle Beach, where he scored a 76 and tied for first place.
“The win at Myrtle Beach definitely didn’t hurt the team’s confidence coming into the season. One of our senior captains, Jim Slovitt, won the individual title in a playoff, which was exciting. We were all happy to see him get the victory,” Guille Henegar ’15 said.
Ohio Wesleyan University hosted the two-day Strimer Memorial Invitational at the OakHaven Golf Club in Delaware, Ohio. Besides the host and Denison, the tournament included Kenyon, Wooster, Adrian, Hiram, Anderson, and Berea.

Denison had a great second day but it was not enough to catch Kenyon who won the tournament and accumulated 603 points followed by Denison with 617.
