On Friday Feb. 26, Denison Track and Field hosted the Last Chance Meet. The Big Red women posted ten top five finishes and the men finished with three victories with multiple notable performances.

Kate Benson ’16 finished as the runner-up in the 800-meter run with Phoebe Osterhout ’18 right behind her finishing third.

In the 3000-meter run, Alyssa Bahel ’19 finished second, Anna Fash ’19 came in third and Lindsey Studebaker ’16 took seventh.

Additionally, Hannah Hall ’18 and Grace Zukowski ’19 both finished in the top five of the high jump.

Arlesha Cospy ’18 was the runner-up in the shot put and Rebecca Fritch ’16 had a PR in the weight throw, finishing sixth.

Zach Cove ’17 led the men with his victory in the mile with a time of 4:26.42.

Coming back from an injury, David Carter ’19 won the triple jump with a distance of 42’5.25” and Church Humphreys ’18 took third with a jump of 39’0.50”. Humphreys also placed fifth in the pole vault competition.

The third victory of the night came from the last event of the night, the 4×400 relay made up of Mitch Keller ’16, Zach Munn ’18, Niall Clancey ’19, and Cove ’17.

On Sunday, Feb. 28, Aedin Brennan ’16 captured her fourth NCAC Pentathlon title. She competed in the North Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Combined Events Championship and amassed a Denison school record of 3,686 points during the competition in Delaware, Ohio.

Brennan ’16 reset her own school record in the 60 meter hurdles, finishing second and also taking second place finishes in both the high jump and shot put. Earning second in the long jump and 800-meter run secured her pentathlon title over conference rival Hilary Coady ’16 of Wooster.

Jessica Nix ’18 also competed at the NCAC Combined Events Championship and finished ninth with 2,304 points with high scores in the hurdles and high jump.

The Big Red will compete in the North Coast Athletic Conference Championship next week beginning on Friday March 4 and continuing on Saturday March 5. The 2015 Championship Indoor Meet will be held at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio.
