The swimming and diving season has officially begun as the teams took home a win at the Kenyon Relays, but struggle against Eastern Michigan.
Two weeks ago, the annual Kenyon Relays in Gambier provided a good way for the Denison swim team to show their dominance right from the start. Meanwhile, the diving team did their part back in Granville.
The women’s team tied Kenyon with 160 points, while the men took home a solo victory. The men won 164 points, beating second place Kenyon by 36 points.
With a solid win under their belt, Denison swim and dive headed to Ypsilanti, Michigan to take on Division 1 Eastern Michigan. Unfortunately, the Big Red could not defeat the Eagles, as both the women and men took home a loss.
The women’s swimming and diving put up a solid fight, but lost with a final score of 196-100, as the men lost 191-104, despite their hard work.
Denison swimming and diving continues forward with one loss and one win, but are determined to get another victory as they head on in the season. With only two meets in the books, there is a lot of pool time left this year.
In addition to the meets, the swimming and diving team also had two swimmers, Jack Lindell ‘17 and KT Kustritz ‘20, named North Coast Athletic Conference Swimmers of the Week. Lindell put up an incredible performance in the Kenyon Relays, while Kustritz lead the fight against Eastern Michigan.
Denison swimming and diving heads to Ohio State University this Friday to take on the Buckeyes. The teams will then be back at Denison on Saturday to compete against Xavier.
