Loud music reverberated in students’ chests, and neon paint splatters shone in the colorful lights.
On Friday, Sept. 8, the University Program Council hosted the third annual Paint U party.
The event, which was free to students, employed the Paint University company, which brings the experience of a paint parties to campuses.
“We started this three years ago, and since then it has been a success, so we decided to do it again, make it a tradition or something,” said Khue Ngo’ 19, as she sat greeting attendees at the entrance.
The party started at 10 p.m. but the students started pouring in around 11 p.m. and continued coming and going throughout the night.
It was a unique UPC event, Jamila Edmond,’17 UPC Director of Finances, said.
“It’s atypical from the usual events that UPC does, like comedians and magicians. It gives people a chance to be more active, because many of our events are watching and it’s a safer place for an event [than] at the Sunnies to dance and have fun,” said Edmond.
UPC, a student-run organization, organizes an array of events each year for students.
“Next week we have a Game Show Night and the weekend after a Cedar Point trip that costs only five dollars, which pays for everything, and also the Gala,” said Ngo. UPC is also responsible for putting together the annual D-Day concert.
The atmosphere of the party invited people to dance and mingle with one another.
As the night continued, people enjoyed dancing while covered in neon paint. Edmond and Ngo agreed that UPC members pulled off a successful Paint U Party for the third year in a row.
