Denison’s African and Caribbean Student Association presented Africa Night 2023 this past Sunday in Burke Recital Hall. The theme of this year’s event was “The Crown: Reclaiming your Royalty,” centered around reclaiming the riches and royalty of the African continent and empowering Africans and the diaspora through celebration of culture, achievements, and beauty. The event was hosted by Ghanaian American comedian and entertainer, Clifford Owusu. Featured performances included spoken word poetry by Akindele Aboyade-Cole ‘26 and Aniaha Ortiz ‘23, as well as performances by Tehillah and AfroSpice dance. Guest performances included singer Zack Hailu (Zulu) and rapper Yaw Antwi-Bosiako (The Blackpope), as well as a percussion and dance number by African Soul International.
