With a string of shutout wins in both the semifinal and championship of the NCAC Tournament, the Denison field hockey team was crowned conference champion for a record fifth time. Photographed is the Nov. 1 semifinal game against DePauw at Deeds Field-Piper Stadium in Granville, where they won 2-0 following goals from Lila Smith ‘27 and Katherine Flanagan ‘26. The victory set up a Nov. 4 title matchup against top-seeded Ohio Wesleyan, which was 17-0 heading into the game. After four scoreless quarters that saw the Battling Bishops hold a 11-3 penalty corner advantage, Emma Gebhart ‘27 scored the championship-clinching goal seven minutes into overtime to send the Big Red to the NCAA Division III  Tournament. Goalkeeper Athena Joannou ‘25 made seven saves in the two postseason shutouts and Flanagan was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
