The success of various Denison alumni is not had to come by, but in the Cinema Department, alumni are looking to share some of that success with current students.
The plans for the fall semester, while still dynamic and changing, center around bringing back alumni to campus to connect with students.
Many of them are recent alumni and are hugely successful in the film industry, ready to bring that sort of success hime to those just starting out.
Mo Stemen ‘07, recently worked alongside director Ben Affleck in a film titled Live By Night coming out in 2017. She will be visiting campus Sept. 26-30.
New York City filmmaker Ian Moubayed ‘12 just directed documentaries for the Rockefeller Foundation and is now finishing up Keys to the City, his newest narrative documentary.
Kent Vincent ‘06 explored Chinatown Fair in his documentary the Lost Arcade, which showed in the International Film Festival Rotterdam and also was released in New York City theaters recently.
Film editor Matthew Hamachek ‘03 worked on the documentary Cartel Land and Amanda Knox, a Netflix original set to premiere on Sept. 30.
Though the dates for these alumni to visit are still being arranged, the department is “incredibly excited” as Gina Ezzone says.
The department is also looking for opportunities in Columbus from seeing films and attending events to visiting filmmakers in the industry firsthand.
Despite the fact that the dates have not been set in stone, what is certain is the coming semester will be full of opportunities for students interested in the Department of Cinema.
