Denison’s Residential Communities and Housing office is currently experiencing a shortage of ink for its ID printers and is only able to print ID cards in black and white.
This shift is due to a change in printing systems at the Rescomm office, while installing a new ID printer, the old printer unexpectedly ran out of ink.
Josh Kusch, Senior Director of Residential Communities and Housing, confirmed that all students should have a working ID, but students who have lost their card or otherwise urgently need one can still request a replacement on their MyDenison account. Students who request a new ID will be issued a temporary grayscale card that functions like a regular red or blue student ID card (paying for meals, accessing campus buildings and dorms, etc.) and will receive an updated color ID as soon as the printer issue is resolved. Printing of new blue IDs is also currently on hold as long as students have a working ID.
“I anticipate that in the next couple of weeks, the new ribbon [for the printer] will be in, and we will be able to begin printing color IDs again,” Kusch said. “Students will get an email when their new ID is printed; they’ll be able to pick it up in the Residential Communities and Housing office in the Curtis Community Center.”
Brin Glass ‘24 said “I was surprised to pick up a gray ID, but it seemed to work just fine and I actually really like the retro look.”
