The Denison Campus Governance Association (DCGA) is kicking off the annual election season next week, where students will run for a variety of positions, such as class senators, as well as the President and Vice President roles.
These positions will serve within DCGA and last through the following academic year. The student body will vote for those running this year at the end of the campaign period.
Applicants interested in running for a position must complete an informational session led by a member of the elections committee between April 6-10. These info sessions will be held in the DCGA office, located across from the CLIC office on the thrid floor of Slayter.
They must also submit an application including a platform document with a clear profile photo of a candidate’s face that is no more than one 8.5×11 page in PDF format, as well as a shorter than 100-word paragraph version of their overall platform, which will appear on the voting ballot, and a form consenting to the campaign rules.
If their application is accepted, students running for a position in DCGA may participate in campaign week. Students are allowed to post campaign materials and advertise their campaign in-person or online. There will also be a presidential debate on April 14, from 6:30-7:30 p.m., which will also be held on the third floor of Slayter.
The official voting period will begin on April 16 at 8:00 a.m., and will conclude at 5 p.m. on April 17. Ballots can be submitted via an online form which can be found on WhatToDU. Students may continue to campaign during this period.
