This is part three of the Fall Preview Series of Denison Athletics.
So far this season, women’s golf has had an NCAC golfer of the week, a 1st place invitational win, a 36-hole record and wait, wait, they’ve only had one match? No way. Yes way.
Brynn Fitzgerald, the sophomore from Pepper Pike, Ohio, has been leading the way for the squad this year so far. Not only did she rack up her fourth NCAC golfer of the week nomination, she also finished with 24 pars and two birdies on her first tournament of the year, which Denison won by 47 strokes.
This is Fitzgerald’s fourth NCAC Golfer of the week nomination and it surely won’t be her last.
And one of the more surprising things about the first event was the impact of the freshmen. For instance, newbies Annie Miller and Tina Berardi made dramatic first impressions with scores of notched 80 and 82, respectively.
Also interesting, this is the very first tournament in which Denison Women’s Golf racked up a first place with eight or more teams in the competition. So the future seems pleasantly bright for the team with seven freshmen on it.
Their next match is this weekend at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational.
